Welcome to the Congress

DEAR LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, GUESTS, COLLEAGUES, PARTICIPANTS OF THE CONGRESS!

It is a great pleasure and privilege for me to welcome you to the Congress on Mental Health: Meeting the Needs of the XXI Century that, I think, takes a special place among the scientific events focused on mental health.

I’d like to note that our Congress is held on the initiative of non-governmental organizations that bring together psychiatrists, psychotherapists, psychologists, educators, economists, lawyers, people of culture and sports, and that is supported by the Government of the Russian Federation. This allows us to create not only a platform for a constructive dialogue on the development of programs in the field of mental health care, but also a practical model for their implementation in the future on an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral basis.

I express my special gratitude to the leading global organizations that supported the Congress. The Congress is co-sponsored by the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), is held under the patronage of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA) and in partnership with the World Council for Psychotherapy (WCP), the International Social Security Association (ISSA), the World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (WPA), the Asian Association for Psychotherapy (AFP) and the International Association for the Improvement of Mental Health Programs (AMH). It enables the creation of a global platform for the exchange of the best practices and for developing contacts for over 500 attendees from 30 countries on the interdisciplinary level in the field of mental health care.

Please, allow me also to express my gratitude to the members of the Russian and International Organizing Committees and the Scientific Committee who managed to unite the international expert community, represented by professionals in the fields of healthcare, labor and social protection, education and science, art and culture, sports, economics and law, and information for delivering a concerted stance on mental health maintenance.

I hope that the Congress will provide unique opportunities to fully illuminate the issues on the improvement of mental health programs, and to discuss the latest scientific achievements on the fields of psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychology, including etiology, pathogenesis, biological and social factors, clinic and treatment of mental disorders, social rehabilitation for persons with mental disorders.

I wish you success in your present endeavors and a very pleasant stay in Moscow!
