Welcome to the Congress

Her research focuses on community and work integration for people with mental illnesses and she has published widely in this field, covering a range of mental health conditions and interventions, as well as policy and work contexts. Dr. Kirsh was an invited member of the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s Workforce Advisory Committee, which developed the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. She was a principal investigator on the Commission’s Opening Minds project, the largest systematic effort in Canadian history focused on reducing stigma related to mental illness and  she participated in the largest homelessness project in history, At Home/Chez Soi.

Dr Kirsh was a co-principal investigator on Canada’s Aspiring Workforce project, which  examined the challenges facing people with mental illnesses who want to work, and the best ways to overcome those challenges. Results of the Aspiring Workforce project are currently being discussed with governments, businesses, policy makers and not-for-profit organizations, to help transform Canada’s policies and services into a system that helps people with mental illnesses to enter and stay in the workforce.
